Hi, I'm Kate and today I want to share my story. I am 35 years old and I have 2 teenage boys who live with me full time. I got married very young (big mistake!) to a man I thought was the love of my life. When I was younger I believed that starting a family and being a stay-at-home mom would make me happy. I was wrong. Raising 2 boys with an unsupportive husband who worked all day long and was never there when I needed him, was an exhausting and often thankless job. Slowly but surely, this isolating way of life led me into depression.

My coping strategy was.. you guessed it food. I packed on some weight after having my first child, but things really started to go south after the birth of my second son. I was simply too overwhelmed to notice how fat I was getting.

A few years ago, on one of the rare night outs with my husband I started to notice that he paid no attention to me and he kept looking at other (thinner) women. I felt embarrased and betrayed. Still, I didn't confront him about it. I was completely exhausted from being a full time mother of 2 boys and had no energy left for geting into arguments. I knew that I had to lose weight or my marriage would suffer, but food was the only source of comfort I had left.

To cut a long story short, 2 years ago, my husband left me for another woman. I wish I could say
that after that I completely changed my life around and became a whole different person.
The reality is that I spiraled even deeper into depression and gained even more weight.

Before the divoce I had to deal with isolation and feeling unappreciated. After the divorce, in addition to all these,  I also had to deal with feelings of rejection and financial insecurity.

You see I was a stay-at-home mom with no income of my own and the alimony was simply not enough for us to maintain our previous living standards. At the time, all I cared about was finding a job and standing on my feet. My weight was the last thing on my mind.

Until one day, several months after the divorce, I woke up, looked at myself in the mirror, and felt disgusted and ashamed. Not just because of my body, but because I realized that I had lost control of my life. All those years I knew what I had to do to get back into shape, but I kept procrastinating. I needed to take control of my life again.I had to get my old self back.

That’s when I turned to a certain online forum where the members were discussing weight loss programs. I found a great one, and after following it for a few months I managed to lose all of my excess weight.I received amazing reactions from all over the place! Everyone told me I looked
great. But, I wasn't very content. My body did look good with my clothes on, but every time I looked at myself naked in the mirror, I would just cringe.The skin around my hips and legs seemed to be plagued by what looked like cottage cheese. I was just disgusted at how much cellulite I had. This was not my body. This was the body of an old woman.

So, I turned to good old Google and started doing research about the causes of cellulite. I soon realized that the problem was not caused by toxins or coffee or all the bs everyone was talking about. Cellulite is mainly a hormonal problem, but to solve it you need to address multiple factors.

One day I came across an article by Joey Atlas, who mentioned a few things that resonated with me.
He said that the notion that you need to eat certain foods and nutrients in order to “flush away” the toxins and cure cellulite is a dirty lie. According to Joey Atlas, having flat, untoned muscle is a big part of the problem. When mushy, deflated muscles are sitting under the skin areas, the skin has no firm foundation to sit on, so it looks dimply.

Time To Get Serious…

The program consisted of just 3 fifteen-minute workouts per week. That was it. There was no diet plan. I think there was an upsell called Naked Beauty Diet, but I didn't buy that. From what I could gather, Joey's opinion about nutrition is that it affects the appearance of cellulite only indirectly. The whole Naked Beauty program is focused on tightening and toning muscles. Anything that helps maintain the structural integrity of your muscles is also good against cellulite. And one of the most important elements is protein.

So, I started following the program combined with an increased protein intake.

My Results

After a couple of weeks, I looked myself in the mirror and i couldn't see any difference whatsoever. But, I kept going because I was feeling some change under the skin that I had never felt before with any other exercise routine or workout. And after a about 8 weeks, there was a visible difference that I could see in the mirror. My thighs looked firm and smooth, the skin on my knees was tight, my backside was toning-up and my legs look elongated (I actually looked a little taller!).

Overall, even though it took some time and effort to see results, I felt so much more confident in my own body.

  2. hey there good for you you deserve a crown for what you put yourself through i just turned 55 and i have been doing workouts since last year after my husband said i was fat ... i used to take diet pills when i was a kid and was very tempted to do it again until i read that they can cause kidney damage... anyway i was like screw you pal and i started doing exercises which were like murder to me... i hated them with every ounce of my being... it took a few months of not eating all the stuff i loved or avoiding it and eating it only when i couldn't take it anymore, plus doing these workouts which i would blow off for a few days and even a couple of weeks, yes, i hated them with a passion... then i don't know what happened, i just knew i was stronger without even looking at myself, and i noticed stuff was getting slightly looser , and it gave me hope... then lo and behold it started to come off, i was damn determined to get back into a size 8... and a year later i am 15 pounds lighter and i don't see any cellulite anymore... i am doing this stuff every other day now to maintain... no longer at 145 ... back to 130 like i was back in college ... I'm 5'8 1/2 and used to being really slim so this is my time to shine now, and husband who is overweight is totally freaking jealous boohoohoohahahahahaha
